Upcoming Event from Italiancuppacakes.com

Hi Cupcake Lovers!

I am very proud to announce that on Sunday, March 29th, Cuppacakes will be participating in The LA Cupcake Competition at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.  This is where the winner of the BEST cupcake will be announced!  There will be about 15 other well known Cupcake Shops I will be competing against which should be quite exciting.

Each Cupcake vendor will make 2 different flavored mini cupcakes, 400 of each!  Can you imagine with 16 Cupcake makers there, each bringing in 800 mini cupcakes, which makes it a total of over 12,000 mini cupcakes!!  That's a lot of cuppies!

The judges will be well know celebrities and the public!  Here they will taste the cupcakes and pick their favorite ones.  If you would like to come to this fun event, you can visit the website of the LA Cupcake Competition at http://www.drinkeatplay.com/cupcakechallenge/     The cost of coming and participating in the event and eating as much cupcakes as you like is $40.  Part of the cost goes to the Children's Aids Foundation, which I was told.  All information is provided in the link I gave you.

I hope I get to see a lot of you there!  It should be a fun event and who knows, Cuppacakes could be crowned LA's best Cupcake maker!

Again, it's on Sunday March 29th from 1pm to 4pm at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.  1755 N Highland Ave, Hollywood, CA. 90028.

Here's the link:

Thanks for supporting Cuppacakes!

FACEBOOK AND THE CITY...

Well this year seems to be going full speed ahead. The time change brings the Spring Season and hopefully more outdoor activities!

I  highly recommend all business to join Facebook particularly those restaurants new to the area. Word spreads quick and new customers are at your door! For those of you wanting to reunite with old friends, Facebook connects you to those you want to catch up with after all these years. We have a lot of fun online, I hope you join and add me as a friend if you do!

Speaking of Reunions, I went to the 7th Street Chophouse for a mini-high school reunion last week. Great place, Great Music and servers and Manager were really cool. We had apps and they were great! Look forward to eating dinner there soon.

Can I please go to THINK PRIME....They definitely have it going on...When I drive by there, I love seeing the patrons go in...I've heard nothing but good things....

Italiancuppacakes.com  sells her creations out of Nosh Cafe (on Centre Street by Papadakis.) Cute and Fabulous Cupcakes. I wish Rose the best of luck in her competition at the end of March!

Have you checked out the Lebanese Cafe near Mr. C's Liquor on 20th and Pacific? Need to check it out. Heard through the Grapevine that  it's Good.

CLASS OF 1989 REUNION IS JULY 25TH AT THE QUEEN MARY GO TO WWW.GREATREUNIONS.COM FOR COMPLETE DETAILS....

That's what's new..more to come..check back soon!

We crossed the bridge and went to Long Beach

So, two weeks ago, it was Mercedes' birthday, and a group of 20 went to Tokyo Wako on Pine in Shoreline/Pike Place area and then, us die-hards, wondered off to the Sgt. Peppers Piano Bar up the street on Pine.  We had a blast. It's fun for us older people (ahh age 37 and up) because it's not a nightclub and it's like Karaoke, but professionals run the show and singing.  So, you still enjoy good singing and fun songs, old and new.

Needless to say, you must try it next time you are looking for a different and fun night out! We all took cabs back home and there was no problem getting one to take us back home. The guys at the door facilitated that for us. So the next birthday or celebration, think about hanging out on Pine. Be brave, try something new! Maybe I will see you there... ;)

New South Bay Parents website

www.SouthBayFamilyTalk.com

Here is a new website for parents in the South Bay. Please check it out and let me know what you think...

Trader Joe's in Downtown SP

There is an empty space available on 5th Street down by the New Vue Condos and the Port of Los Angeles building. Now, seriously, wouldn't a Trader Joe's go great there? I think the surrounding area has enought Carniciera's and Ethnic Markets to serve the area, however the closest grocery store is Vons on 13th & Gaffey.  It would also serve a great purpose and decrease driving to area stores, since it is in walking distance to big work centers (shopping before going home) or lunch time shopping is certainly feasible. Not to mention, we are always so concerned with density and traffic situations on Western Avenue. So just another random suggestion from this SP Mom. What do you think?

Mercedes BDAY

Happy Birthday Mercedes!!!!

May this year bring you much deserved happiness and peace!

Facebook and San Pedro

We all know reunions are a big hit. Meeting up with people from our past and catching up-even for a few moments.  Facebook has connected so many people from across the States that live in San Pedro and those who used to live here. If you have not signed up, please do! I have personally enjoyed all the new connections from my past.  You will love it!  go to www.facebook.com

Let me know how it works for you.  My advice, keep your personal info to a minimum but do include your Maiden Name if you are a woman. I promise you will get a kick out of it!

Porky's BBQ on 6th Street. Is this the new big thing???

Personally, I have an acute fondness for fried food (as my waistline proves ;), however, when 2  of your best friends say "you have to go to Porky's on 6th Street," you think to yourself, I guess I have to check it out!  Sarah and Rico went last night and said it was the "Best damn chicken, their beans were great, omg the biscuits..." on and on. Christina and Dave went 3 times in one week...So that kinda tells me that there's something good and new in San Pedro. Gabe and I and the twins will be testing it out tonight! Join me in some great Southern BBQ...But, be forewarned...They do run out of foods, they only make so much for the day and night so everything is freshly prepared daily...And give yourself some time. Good food takes time to prepare. They do take out and deliveries only on orders over $50 and with 24 hour notice.  See you tonight!!!

Sunken City

I keep forgetting to mention how cool the new Sunken City Skate Shop is for Skating enthuiastists. My kids loved to watch the "boys" on the ramp skating away. I thought it was a great place to purchase gifts for people in that "hard to find gifts for" category, you know, the teenage/young adult group. Cute Sunglasses, and if all else fails, I'm sure they have gift cards. They are located in Downtown San Pedro between 6th and 7th Street and Mesa. www.sunkencityskateshop.com

RE: YWCA on 9th Street Has DayCare

I read an article in the Breeze today about the YWCA starting a daycare program at the Old St. Peter's Church on 9th Street above Weymouth, below Western. It would definitely worth looking into if Daycare is the difference between you working or not these days. It is called World Tots-San Pedro child care center.  The address is 1648 W. Ninth Street, San Pedro, CA 90732 (310) 547-0831.  The new center offers care to infants and toddlers from age 3 months to 5 years old.  I encourage you to find more information or donate if you can to this venture.

Please write me if you hear any news regarding this Center: erikasog@gmail.com

Thank you.
